Job Description Summary:
This position combines the responsibilities of a Clinical Educator and a Staff RN. The Clinical Educator component of the role provides designated clinical unit(s) with educational support, including needs assessments. Provides standardized education in area of expertise as well as general education including but not limited to orientation, annual competency assessment, regulatory, accreditation and certification. Assists in the design of education based on educational standards, evidenced based practice and OhioHealth policy. The Staff RN component provides general nursing care to patients and families along the illness continuum while collaborating with the healthcare team.

Educator/Facilitator: a Integrates principles from theories of adult learning, organizational development, system, change and quality management into educational offerings b. Applies educational processes, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of program development and management c. Supports the process of needs assessment, educational planning and design, program implementation and evaluation. d. Plans, conducts and evaluates programs designed to achieve desired level of competence and critical thinking e. Collaborates with Clinical Education Lead, Service Line Leads, Organizational Development and other educators to create educational activities/programs that encompass age specific populations for various organizational needs. f. Analyzes and evaluates programs/activities for effectiveness. g. Assists with orientation experience for new associates Assists with ongoing education, including in-services and competency assessment.

Staff Nurse a. Performs initial and ongoing assessment for applicable patient population. b. Collects, analyzes and documents initial and ongoing subjective and objective data from patients, significant others and communities, and communicates to the appropriate individual. c. Delegates tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses LPN , Patient Support Assistants PS a and other unlicensed personnel and reviews data obtained by these individuals in accordance with specific criteria and state statutes. d. Uses assessment data at identify pertinent nursing diagnosis and collaborative problems e. Initiates care plans and documents nursing interventions. f. Initiates and supports discharge plan. 10 % Change Agenta. Implements education on new processes, equipment, policy. b. Facilitates and supports change through effective communication with associates and management. c. Participates in committees, task forces and strategic planning meetings.

Project Management/Researcher a. Supports the integration of research into evidence-based practices. Builds an environment of evidenced-based practice to guide education practice. Reviews and evaluates current research from a variety of disciplines and integrates findings into associate educational programs. Promotes associate and manager knowledge and skills in the research process. e. Sets priorities in identifying and responding to educational needs of assigned area f. Initiates and/or leads performance and practice improvement initiatives . Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing
Additional Job Description:
RN license or licensed/certified in assigned clinical area of expertise Bachelor's prepared in field of expertise Basic Life support Instructor Knowledge of accreditation, regulatory and Certification requirements 3 - 5 years Experience in designated clinical area 2+ Years of Experience in education-adult development, knowledge, concepts strong communication skills.
This position consists of 24 hours a week in Clinical Education and 12 hours a week in staffing.
