Position: Project Engineer 

Location: Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Akron, OH (on site)

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our growing Bridge Group. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of complex and high-profile transportation projects while mentoring junior staff and collaborating across disciplines. As a Project Engineer, you will perform technical design work, manage project components, and serve as a key liaison between clients and internal teams. The ideal candidate is self-driven, has a strong background in bridge design and inspection, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at 4+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Perform conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design for structural elements of transportation and roadway projects. Develop and oversee bridge, retaining wall, and other structural design. Lead or support the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Lead or support bridge condition inspections throughout Ohio, including occasional overnight stays. Provide technical mentorship and support to junior engineers and design technicians. Ensure quality control and compliance with applicable design standards and client requirements. Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams on project coordination and technical issues. Contribute to project scoping, scheduling, and proposal development as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE required). Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of employment (or the ability attain within a year). Minimum of 4+ years of progressive experience in bridge design and bridge inspection. Knowledge of AASHTO and DOT bridge design standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to self-motivate and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
