Job Title:Applied Research Engineer 1Department:Engineering | Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Applied Research Engineer 1 Engineer in the College of Engineering (COE), Center for Automotive Research (CAR) who conducts research in the areas of battery thermal systems; works with CAR faculty, staff, researchers, students and industry partners to conduct battery thermal modeling and simulation and support sponsored research; extracts and analyzes simulation results and prepares technical reports for sponsors reviews; prepares and presents papers/reports; writes, edits and/or approves progress and technical reports for sponsors; edits research results for publication and presentation; assists in identifying, writing and preparing proposals to pursue new funding opportunities; develops task lists, time lines, and budgets for research projects; attends relevant internal and external research meetings; supports teaching and training in electrified vehicle technologies.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree: Major: Engineering or equivalent education and experience

Experience Required:

0-2 years of experience in engineering research capacity is required; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work dynamically in an adaptive team environment.

Qualifications Desired:

advanced degree in a relevant field of science or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in an academic research capacity; ability to independently meet research goals, solve problems, and develop scientific ideas.

The target hiring range for this job profile is $26.78- $34.95. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
