Job description

Summary: In this role you will be responsible strategically positioning Grange’s products and services for Auto products to meet customer and agent needs, building company revenues and driving differentiation.  

Please note that this could be at Director or Manager level based on relevant experience.                     

What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. With full accountability for product profit and loss, develop and implement business plans to maximize Commercial Lines’ profit and growth across the auto line of business.
  2. Lead, motivate, and enable a team of professionals to accomplish business objectives. This includes indirect reports within Commercial Lines and any personnel in supporting departments (e.g., marketing, claims, information technology) who can impact/influence business results.
  3. Establish and implement business strategy including: product development, pricing, and implementation processes (run-off and new products); underwriting guidelines; portfolio mix planning and results; development of product contracts, forms and endorsements; expense control (including commissions) and fee generation; bill plan selection and bad debt processing; and CAT mitigation efforts.
  4. Work with Sales & Marketing and underwriting teams to help influence agencies to adopt new technologies and best practices in the sales and service of Commercial Lines products.
  5. Oversee and lead development of new programs and niche classes in conjunction with Specialty Underwriting Leaders.
  6. Lead the Commercial Lines compliance function for Auto product lines ensuring that products & rates follow all applicable statutes & regulations.
  7. Lead the Commercial Lines competitive analysis function in assigned product lines. Keep current with industry trends and peer competitors’ actions.
  8. Lead all communications around auto products internally to underwriters, techs, and upper management as well as externally to agents.

What You’ll Bring To The Company:

Bachelor’s degree preferred with advanced degree and/or professional designation (e.g. CPCU) strongly preferred. One or more years of product management profit and loss responsibility strongly desired with an emphasis on commercial auto lines of business. Multiple years of commercial underwriting experience strongly desired.  Must have superior problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to make data-driven decisions. Must have ability to develop and lead a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. Ability to develop and execute a business strategy/vision required.
