Job description

Geologist II

ANS Geo LLC in Columbus, OH seeks Geologist II. Conduct geotechnical and geophysical investigations for renewable energy projects, including solar and wind farms, by performing soil borings, test pit excavations, rock coring, electroresistivity testing (ERT), pile load testing, and related subsurface exploration activities.

Perform geophysical surveys using methods such as Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI), Multi- Channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW), Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and seismic refraction to evaluate subsurface soil and rock conditions. Collect, log, and classify soil and rock samples in accordance with industry standards and coordinate laboratory testing programs to determine geotechnical properties and site conditions. Analyze geotechnical and geophysical data and interpret field and laboratory results to assess subsurface conditions and support engineering design. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports summarizing field investigations, laboratory results, data analysis, and interpretation, and provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and site development. Coordinate and oversee field
exploration activities, including drilling operations, sampling, infiltration testing, pile load testing, and geophysical surveys, to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety
standards, and environmental requirements. Coordinate project activities by assisting with scheduling field investigations, working with project teams and subcontractors, and maintaining communication with clients regarding project progress and technical findings. Maintain accurate field logs, technical documentation, and project records, and assist with tracking project progress and deliverables.

Travel: 30% domestic travel required throughout the US to job sites once a month for 1-2 days at a time.

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Science or a related field and 6 months of experience in the job offered or in a related field. Must possess experience with (i) project
planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking; (ii) resource allocation and subcontractor coordination; (iii) contract management, invoicing, and change order preparation; (iv) client
communication, technical presentations, and stakeholder coordination; (v) Geotechnical investigations including soil borings, test pits, rock coring, and pile load testing; (vi) Geophysical methods such as ERT, ERI, MASW, GPR, and seismic refraction; (vii) soil and rock classification, sampling, and logging; (viii) laboratory testing oversight and data interpretation; (ix) geotechnical reporting and foundation design recommendations; (x) safety compliance, environmental standards, and quality control; and (xi) AutoCAD, QGIS, KMZ/KML overlays, and digital reporting tools.
