Job description

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Job Functions:
  • Will see patients in office clinic and document/create orders in electronic medical records system
  • Rotating between two sites of care (Riverside Liver Clinic and OGG)
  • Coordinate care of plan with primary care physicians and specialists
  • Assessing patients medical, physical, and psychosocial status
  • Obtaining a relevant health and medical history of patient
  • Perform a physical examination based on age and history
  • Identify medical and health risks and needs
  • Updating and recording changes in health status
  • Develop and provide a relevant patient education plan
  • Coordinate discharge plan and reassess the plan as necessary
  • Prescribe as needed in accordance with the current State Licensure and physician's collaborative agreement
  • Review and interpret fibroscan results and draft patient communications
  • Assist physicians as requested/triage
  • Will receive and return patient & physician calls as needed
  • Any follow up

Secondary Job Functions:
  • Maintains patients' rights of privacy and confidentiality
  • Any other tasks as requested by the physician, executive director, human resource manager, and/or the office supervisor[2]

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems, and record keeping
  • Knowledge of modern business communication, including style and format of letters, memoranda, minutes, and reports
  • Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems

Credentials and Experience
  • Preferred experience working in the medical field (office, clinical, or hospital)
  • Must have current Nurse Practitioner License from the Ohio Board of Nursing and Certificate to Prescribe
  • Must have current BLS certification
  • Must have prior liver experience or 3 years of APP experience

Special Requirements
  • Maintain annual PPD skin test/TB Screening Form
  • This is a full-time position: 40/wk. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Physical Demands
  • Applies the principles of body mechanics in lifting or moving people (occasional)
  • Should be able to independently lift 25 LBS (occasionally)
  • Must be able to sit (frequent), stand (frequent), walk (frequent), stoop (frequent), & bend over (frequent)

Work Environment
  • Medical office requiring contact with patients and staff
