Emphasizes developing independent critical reading skills and connects reading analysis to persuasive writing and informed citizenship.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with high school reading standards and common challenges such as comprehending archaic or complex language, analyzing unfamiliar text genres, and sustaining focus on extended readings. Adapts instruction using diverse text selections, scaffolded annotation guides, and discussion-based analysis to support high school readers from struggling to advanced levels building toward college-level textual analysis.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
