Job description

Passport Health - Nurse Practitioner - Travel Medicine (Ohio)
Position Overview
As a Travel Health Nurse Practitioner, you will prepare clients for international travel by providing education, clinical recommendations, vaccinations, and prescription medications to help prevent travel-related illnesses, including malaria, traveler's diarrhea, motion sickness, and altitude sickness.
This role combines direct patient care with regulatory oversight. In addition to conducting in-person and telehealth travel consultations, the Nurse Practitioner will travel throughout Ohio to support Passport Health clinics and serve as the Responsible Party for the company's Ohio Terminal Distributor of Dangerous Drugs (TDDD) licenses.

  • Location: Ohio (statewide travel supporting Passport Health clinics in Cincinnati, Cleveland/Beachwood, Dublin/Columbus, and Toledo)
  • Employment Type: Part-Time
Compensation
  • Starting Pay: $60.00+ per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Hours will vary based on patient appointments, clinic support needs, and required compliance visits.
  • Travel Reimbursement: Passport Health reimburses all approved business-related travel expenses, including mileage, meals, and lodging when overnight travel is required.
  • Travel Requirement: Regular travel throughout Ohio is required to support Passport Health clinic locations and complete compliance responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
Travel Medicine
  • Conduct in-person and telehealth travel health consultations with patients preparing for international travel.
  • Review each client's health history and travel itinerary.
  • Assess for contraindications, vaccine considerations, and potential medication interactions.
  • Educate clients on CDC-recommended vaccines and preventive medications based on destination and travel plans.
  • Prescribe medications to prevent malaria, treat traveler's diarrhea, manage motion sickness, and assist with altitude acclimatization.
  • Counsel patients on medication administration, expected side effects, and appropriate follow-up care.
  • Communicate with pharmacies as needed regarding prescriptions.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for Passport Health Travel Nurses.
Regulatory & Clinic Support
  • Serve as the Responsible Party for Passport Health's Ohio Terminal Distributor of Dangerous Drugs (TDDD) licenses.
  • Travel to Passport Health clinic locations throughout Ohio to complete required periodic compliance visits.
  • Ensure vaccines and medications are stored, handled, and administered in accordance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy regulations and Passport Health standards.
  • Provide clinical guidance and operational support during site visits.
  • Assist with additional in-clinic consultations outside of required compliance visits as business needs require.
Qualifications
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Ohio.
  • Active prescriptive authority in Ohio.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Ohio.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with remote clinical teams.
  • Proficient with electronic documentation and computer systems.
