Job description

SAFETY MANAGER NEEDED | DATA CENTER STEEL ERECTION

Johnstown, OH
$48-$51/HR
$125/Day Per Diem
Approximately 58 Hours/Week
Start: ASAP
1099 Contract | 6-Month Project

Steel erection experience is not optional for this one.

We are seeking an experienced, field-driven Safety Manager to oversee steel erection activities on a major data center construction project in Johnstown, Ohio. Turner is the General Contractor, so the selected professional must understand Turner's safety expectations and be comfortable operating within a highly structured GC environment.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants consistent hours, a six-month assignment, and a visible role on a high-profile data center project.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN:
  • Daily field safety oversight for active steel erection operations
  • Fall protection, elevated work, bolting, welding, rigging, cranes, and material handling
  • Jobsite inspections, field observations, and immediate hazard correction
  • JHAs, pre-task plans, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
  • Coordination with steel crews, subcontractor leadership, Turner, and project management
  • Incident and near-miss investigations, documentation, and corrective-action tracking
  • Verification that crews follow OSHA, project-specific, and Turner safety requirements
  • A consistent, highly visible safety presence in the field
WHAT WE NEED:
  • 5-10 years of construction safety experience
  • Strong, hands-on steel erection safety experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Subpart R
  • Experience with fall protection, cranes, rigging, aerial lifts, and elevated work
  • Working knowledge of Turner Construction safety expectations and procedures
  • Confidence addressing unsafe work directly and professionally
  • Strong field communication, documentation, and contractor-coordination skills
  • Ability to work approximately 58 hours per week
THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS ROLE:

You know steel erection, understand how a major GC operates, and do not manage safety from a trailer. You can build trust with the craft, communicate effectively with Turner, and keep high-risk work moving without compromising standards.
