Job description

About Field Source

Field Source Sports Field Consulting is a specialized owner’s representative and sports-facility consulting firm based in central Ohio. We help schools, parks and recreation agencies, universities, and sports organizations “Prepare To Play” on safe, high-performing fields and venues. Our culture is hands-on, collaborative, and low-ego — we value curiosity, clear communication, and doing what’s right for the field and the people who use it.

About the Role

Field Source is looking for a Survey Technician to join our team. You’ll handle field surveys, collect and process geospatial data, and produce draft site files for athletic field and site development projects across Ohio. This is a hybrid role split between fieldwork and office-based data processing, serving K–12 districts, municipalities, parks agencies, and universities.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct topographic surveys and collect field data using total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment.
  • Perform construction layout and staking for field boundaries, site utilities, monuments, and site amenities.
  • Process data using Topcon MAGNET (Office, Field Mobile, 3DMC) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Produce draft site files and existing conditions plans for design and construction use.
  • Support as-built and construction verification in the field as needed.
  • Operate drone equipment for aerial data collection (if licensed).

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2+ years of field survey experience; entry-level candidates with relevant training considered.
  • Proficiency in Topcon MAGNET software and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Hands-on experience with construction layout and staking.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to project sites throughout Ohio.

Nice to Have

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (drone pilot’s license).
  • Experience with photogrammetry or point cloud data processing.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Business Center or similar platforms.
  • Background in athletic field, parks, or site development projects.

Benefits & Perks

  • 15 days of PTO starting on Day 1.
  • Flexible work-from-home during the winter months.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Reimbursement Arrangement.
  • Paid Holidays, including a Holiday Shutdown (approx. Dec 20 – Jan 3).
  • Mileage reimbursement for business-related travel to project sites.
  • Cell Phone Stipend: $400/year.
  • Company Apparel Allowance: $500 startup allowance.
  • Company-Furnished Tech Hardware: Laptop, Surface/MacBook, or iPad.
  • 401(k) with Company Match after six months.
  • Annual performance bonus.
