Position Summary  

Manage overall plant continual improvement, PPAP submissions, preventative and corrective action activities to reduce/eliminate customer complaints, internal defects/PPM’s and waste. Contribute to maintaining a Quality Management System

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for continual improvement in Quality performance measurable. 

  • Manage Continual Improvement and Corrective Action activities through leadership/development of the team. 

  • Manage process orientated Internal Audits to drive continual improvement, reinforce/develop company standards. 

  • Continually improve relationships and company’s position with Customers and Suppliers through direct interface and strong leadership. 

  • Responsible for APQP participation, submission of PPAP’s, develop and implement control plans for facility and Maintain Quality documentation as assigned. 

  • Manage PFMEA document to drive preventative actions throughout the facility (with APQP and Corrective Actions input).  

  • Manage all Customer concerns relative to quality performance. 

  • Oversee / Perform calibration on lab equipment and process gauges as required, and address all lab equipment concerns. 

  • Support and train quality auditors and other personnel as required to ensure that the products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the Quality Management System. 

  • Actively participate in the Six Sigma, 5S and Lean Manufacturing processes to drive continual improvements and eliminate waste. 

  • Manage and maintain visual samples, and posting of Quality reports throughout the facility 

  • Oversee and Perform Gauge R&R analysis, maintain customer requirements and upgrade as required. 

  • Prepare the inspection test plan, determine measurement points, manage and maintain dimensional part layouts as required. 

  • Supervise and manage quality testing projects. 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Required Competencies, Skills and Experience 

  • Blue Print Reading, and GD&T knowledge 

 Hands on metrology experience, knowledge of calibration 

 Hands on preparation of PPAP, knowledge of AIAG  5 Core Tools 

  • Direct experience working with customers  

  • Previous experience working with ISO/IATF 16949 standards 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines 

  • Ability to train other 

  • Communication/listening skills 

  • Critical thinking 

  • Analytical skills 

  • MS Office suite with intermediate to advanced Excel skills 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • ASQ CQE certification  

  • Six Sigma certification/training 

  • Previous automotive experience 

  • Knowledge of customer specific Requirements 

  • Working knowledge and use of CMM  

 

Education and Job Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field 

  • At least 1-3 years’ working experience in plastics injection  

 

Language Skills  

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos   

  • Ability to write simple correspondence   

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization 

 

Mathematical Skills  

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals 

 

Reasoning Ability  

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions with  

  • Excellent comprehension skills than can be used in the analysis, and evaluation of daily issues  

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables 

 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear   

  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms   

  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl   

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally maneuver up to 50 pounds   

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception   

  • Must be able to stand continuously for the duration of scheduled shift, if required 

 

 

Work Environment   

  • The position requires the ability to work in non-climate controlled plant areas and climate controlled office areas. 

  • This position is exposed to noisy plant areas, and forklift traffic. 

  • This position requires the ability to walk on concrete floors, lift up to 30 pounds, perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis, and occasionally bend, kneel, twist, and reach.
