    Job description

    OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

    The Manager, Media Planning works closely with the planning Director on all aspects of media planning and is the primary day-to-day contact with the client. Working with cross-functional teams to access all services offered by EssenceMediacom, you will ensure that client objectives are met. 

    As such, you will maintain a high level of involvement with the account entrusted to you, promoting the highest quality media product and customer satisfaction. You will also be responsible for the development and growth of more junior team members, ensuring that they are exposed to all necessary facets of the planning process. 

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and agency partners 
    • Lead the development of media plans, including media analysis to support recommendations 
    • Use research tools (Vividata, Commspoint, ComScore, EssenceMediacom proprietary tools, etc.) to develop recommendations 
    • Prepare and present media plans, including objectives, strategy and rationale based on data and sound thinking 
    • Supervise, guide, and advise media planning team members on day-to-day activities 
    • Delegate work effectively and guide media planning team members to deliver seamless work to the client 
    • Keep abreast of all communications with the planning team, including buy approvals, tracking reports, buy changes, etc. 
    • Ensure ongoing campaign management 
    • Assume financial accountability for media by working with client and partner agency finance departments. 
    • Participate in client/agency meetings as the day-to-day representative of the media department's product group 
    • Act with integrity in managing relationships within the agency and with media partners to ensure brand understanding, sell ideas more effectively and contribute to positive agency reviews 
    • Meet with industry representatives to gain knowledge of all phases and touch points of media partners 
    • Have an in-depth knowledge of the Quebec market and its culture 
    • Demonstrate understanding of client's business 
    • Actively seek, investigate, and pursue new communications and innovation opportunities. 

    YOUR PROFILE 

    • Proven verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills 
    • Outstanding time management skills and proven ability to prioritize and organize workload, while operating under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects 
    • Ability to work on your own initiative; proactive, forward-thinking mindset; consistently demonstrate a practical, well-organized approach to all tasks 
    • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with other multidisciplinary teams 
    • Mastery of media plan implementation with a thorough understanding of the media planning process involving multidisciplinary teams 
    • Comprehensive knowledge of research tools and media planning software required for the role 
    • Strong analytical, mathematical, and quantitative skills 
    • Proficiency in media tools (Prisma, DDS, Media Tools) 

     YOUR QUALIFICATIONS 

    • College diploma or bachelor's degree, preferably with specialization in advertising, marketing, business administration or communications, or equivalent work experience 
    • More than 5 years of relevant media experience, with a preference for media planning 
    • Experience in the full cycle of strategy and media plan development 
    • Ability to develop strategic thinking and recommendations rooted in knowledge of the client's category, consumer insights, the competition and a brand's communications ecosystem 
    • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) 
    • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
    • Ability to communicate concisely and clearly both orally and in writing in both French and English
