Location: Portland, Maine

Salary: 87k - 100k

The Director, Workforce Services will oversee Workforce Solutions and SNAP Employment & Training employment and job training programming in Maine. The position will oversee frontline managers and staff throughout Maine, with a key focus on southern, central and midcoast Maine. The position will work standard business hours Monday-Friday and will be a hybrid role that balances work in regional offices or mobile client or partner engagments with opportunity for remote/work-from home, based on employee preferences and business needs.

Jobย Summary:ย 

Leads and oversees Goodwillโ€™s grant funded workforce development programs, as assigned by the Executive Director of Workforce Services.ย ย Assistsย in development and ongoing assessment ofย assigned workforce programming.ย 

  • Develops strongย relationshipsย local workforce partners and stakeholders.ย 
  • Plans, coordinates and revises strategies and budgets as needed to meet the performance goals of theย particular programย to which this person is assigned.ย 
  • Oversight of all staff and volunteers within assigned Workforce Services departmentsย 
  • Represents the Agency in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the general public, supporting the agency Vision of creating sustainable communities that thrive through the fullest participation of their diverse residents.ย

  • Coordinates services with other internal programs, service providers, and community organizations.ย

  • Develops/implements strategies that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the teamโ€™s performance.ย

  • Demonstrates flexibility by adapting to changes in program and schedule to meet the needs of service recipientsย ย 

    ย 
  • Exhibitsย sound andย accurateย judgmentย evidencedย byย identifyingย problems, reviewing aspects withย appropriate staffย andย supervisorsย and developingย timelyย effective solutions.ย

  • Seeks opportunities to develop skills,ย knowledgeย and programming.ย ย Keeps abreast of current developments inย fieldย to update job skills.ย ย

  • Proven knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Actย and all related workforce funding streamsย programs and oversight.ย 

    ย 
  • Researchesย andย developsย opportunities to take advantage of new service opportunities and provider partnerships throughout Goodwillโ€™s territory that support and augment theย mission.ย ย ย

  • Plans, coordinates and revises strategies and budgets as needed to meet the performance goals of theย particular programย to which this person is assigned.ย 

Minimumย Qualifications:ย ย 

  • BA/BS in business, human services, humanย relationsย or related fields.
  • 4+ years of experience in workforce development or related fields.ย 
  • 2+5ย years of progressive management experienceย 
  • Demonstrated ability to use personal computer, to include; e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft Office softwareย 
  • Excellent verbal and written communicationย skillsย 
  • Valid driverโ€™s licenseย permittingย operation of a vehicle in the State ofย Maineย ย 
  • Criminal background check that meets Agency standardsย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย ย 

  • Mastersย degree in business, human services, humanย relationsย or related fields.ย 
  • 4+ years of progressive management experience.ย ย 
  • 6+ years of experience in workforce development or related fields
