Position responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver company safety training programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections at field and shop locations.
  • Partner with regional operations managers to investigate workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, and safety incidents.
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent future accidents and improve workplace safety.
  • Maintain and update company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor safety performance, loss reports, and insurance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, CDL, and MSHA regulations.
  • Manage DOT/CDL records, driver qualifications, and medical card compliance.
  • Coordinate miner training and MSHA reporting requirements.
  • Oversee customer and vendor safety compliance programs and agreements.
  • Supervise administrative support related to workers' compensation, fleet claims, certificates of insurance, and related programs.
  • Serve as a safety resource for employees, managers, customers, and vendors.
  • Liaise with insurance carriers, local fire departments, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Participate in corporate safety meetings, industry events, and ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and relevant training in Safety.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Planning: ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to-two year time span
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA regulations as relate to industrial powered equipment and our industry
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations as apply to our trucking
  • Strong computer proficiency to include Microsoft applications (especially Power Point and Word)
  • Commitment to company vision and mission
Physical demands and work environment:
  • Physical demands: Employee is required to frequently stand, walk, talk, listen, and use feet and hands to operate machinery. Employee is required to occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, including computer, presentation equipment, and other office equipment. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noisier shop environments and may be exposed to unusual environments at customer sites. When performing duties of this job, it is a requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever appropriate.
