    Job description

    Job Summary

    This full-time Fieldman position is responsible for safely operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment and facilities used to gather, condition, measure, and handle natural gas, oil, and produced water. The Fieldman will address facility and equipment issues in a timely manner to support the safety, reliability, and integrity of Western Midstream's gathering and midstream systems.

    The Fieldman will work independently and with operations, maintenance, contractors, and support personnel throughout Western Midstream's Delaware Basin Midstream Operations. Depending on the assigned operating area, responsibilities may include gas gathering, oil gathering or stabilization, produced water or saltwater disposal operations, field operations, Operations Control Center duties, or a combination of these assignments.

    This posting may be used to fill multiple Fieldman openings supporting operations in the Kermit and Orla, Texas area. The specific operating zone, reporting location, schedule, and assignment will be communicated during the selection process and confirmed before an offer is made.

    Work is primarily performed outdoors at facilities of varying sizes and may involve extreme heat or cold, high winds, dust, noise, and other conditions associated with oil and gas field operations.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in gas gathering, oil gathering or stabilization, saltwater disposal, produced-water operations, field production, or related oil and gas or midstream operations.
    • Working knowledge of oil, natural gas, produced-water, or SWD operations and related equipment, including compression, dehydration, pipelines, pumps, valves, measurement equipment, controls, instrumentation, and alarms.
    • Working knowledge of SCADA systems. Experience with Cygnet or a similar system is preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, including the ability to perform basic calculations and maintain accurate operational records.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, learn new processes, and collaborate across functional groups.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including safely lifting and moving equipment, climbing stairs, working around industrial equipment, and working outdoors in changing weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Ability and willingness to work the schedule associated with the assigned operating area.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Comply with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental requirements.
    • Support Western Midstream's Health, Safety, and Environmental culture and Core Values.
    • Operate, inspect, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain assigned equipment and facilities.
    • Execute startup, shutdown, and normal operating procedures for compressors, dehydration units, motors, fans, pumps, controls, instrumentation, valves, alarms, and related equipment.
    • Perform routine and minor maintenance, repairs, operating adjustments, and equipment replacement as needed.
    • Conduct dew-point testing and support the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of glycol dehydration systems, when applicable.
    • Monitor volumes, flow rates, pressures, tank levels, equipment conditions, and alarms from the field or Operations Control Center.
    • Respond to abnormal operating conditions by taking corrective action or providing guidance to field personnel.
    • Maintain daily activity logs, production reports, downtime records, equipment documentation, corrective-action reports, and safety or environmental records.
    • Write, review, and oversee work permits associated with construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
    • Perform or assist with equipment, facility, construction, and pipeline repairs and installations.
    • Communicate and coordinate with supervisors, operations and maintenance personnel, contractors, producers, operators, landowners, truck drivers, and other support groups.
    • Ensure contractors and truck drivers comply with applicable safety, fluid-handling, and personal protective equipment requirements.
    • Participate in on-call, callout, emergency-response, and system-reliability coverage.
    • Cross-train throughout the operating area and obtain applicable field, pipeline, Operations Control Center, or control-room qualifications as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

     

    Certifications/Licenses

    • A valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit operating a company vehicle is required.
    • Candidates must satisfy applicable drug-testing and background-screening requirements.

     

    Travel Requirements

    • The percentage of travel required for this position is approximately 0-10%.

     

    Work Schedule

    • Available assignments may follow a 7-days-on/7-days-off or 14-days-on/14-days-off rotating schedule. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, holidays, day or night coverage, callouts, on-call responsibilities, and Operations Control Center rotation.
    • WES retains the right to establish or modify work schedules based on operational or future business needs.

    Residency Requirement

    • The successful candidate must live within 75 miles of Kermit or Orla, Texas, or be willing to relocate within the required distance based on the assigned reporting location.

     

    Physical Requirements

    Able to perform the essential functions of the position, including safely lifting and moving equipment, climbing stairs, working around industrial equipment, and working outdoors in changing weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
