LOCATION:  Various Cities/Towns in Rhode Island

SALARY:  $20/hr, Part-time; no benefits

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Applicants must implement developmental screening of children ages 3-5, prior to kindergarten entry, with the intent of identifying children who may have a disability or developmental delay and who therefore require further evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. 
  • Screeners should have the knowledge, acquired through in-service preparation, of general child development and skills in working with young children. 
  • Screenings take approximately 45 minutes each and provide information about how a child is progressing in the areas of vision, hearing, speech/language, social/emotional, and general development.
  • Child Outreach screeners will be assigned to work within a specific school district and will be supervised by school district personnel depending on school district need.
  • Successful applicants will receive comprehensive training in the specific screening tests to be administered. 


Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be fluent in English; however multilingual screeners, especially Spanish speaking, are needed and encouraged to apply.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required.  Screeners will screen 3-6 hours per day, and the number of days will vary based on school district requests. 
  • All screeners must pass a Rl background check (BCI) prior to their start date.
