    Job description

    Job Summary

    Freedom Power Systems, Inc., a 30 person, subsidiary of Vicor Corporation, is a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial mission-critical power systems for the aerospace and defense industries. We integrate Vicor's advanced DC/DC converters, filters, and power circuits into complete, ruggedized power systems engineered for reliability, performance, and compliance.
    We are seeking an experienced, execution-driven Vice President of Engineering to lead our engineering function and directly own project and program management execution. This role oversees a fully staffed engineering organization and is responsible for driving product development, system integration, sustaining engineering, compliance, schedule management, risk management, and disciplined program execution.


    This position is 100% onsite at Cedar Park, TX

    Job Description

       Provide strategic and operational leadership for engineering while personally managing project and program execution.
       Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team (electrical, mechanical, software/firmware, test, network).
       Oversee the full product lifecycle: concept, design, prototyping, verification, qualification testing coordination, release, and sustaining.
       Ensure adherence to AS9100/ISO 9001 design and development processes.
       Own and actively manage program schedules, costs, risks, milestones, and cross-functional coordination.
       Strengthen engineering processes, documentation, and design controls.
       Partner with Operations and Quality to ensure manufacturability, compliance, and repeatability.
       Support customer engagements and proposal development with technical expertise.

    Education / Qualifications

       Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
       10+ years of engineering leadership experience in aerospace, defense, power systems, or electromechanical systems.
       Proven success leading engineering teams in a manufacturing environment.
       Strong understanding of system level integration involving power modules, converters, filters, thermal systems, and packaging.
       Experience with regulatory and compliance standards (UL, MIL STD, FCC, CE, DO 160).
       Demonstrated ability to personally manage projects and programs while delivering complex products on schedule.
       Excellent communication, leadership, and decision making abilities.
        This position requires access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).  All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR."


    Preferred Experience


       Experience integrating modular power components.
       Background in defense or aerospace product development and qualification.
       Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering change processes.
       Experience leading established engineering teams through organizational growth.
