    Job description

    Job Summary:
    VetsEZ is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project. The role involves designing, developing, and delivering secure healthcare applications while collaborating with various teams in an Agile environment.
    Responsibilities:
    โ€ข Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Java EE, Java 17, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, and React or Angular.
    โ€ข Architect and implement secure, cloud-native, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs utilizing AWS services including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
    โ€ข Develop AI-enabled solutions by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs into enterprise healthcare applications while evaluating emerging AI technologies and best practices.
    โ€ข Build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, and ensure application scalability, security, and maintainability through sound engineering principles.
    โ€ข Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and DevOps best practices to deliver high-quality software in a regulated environment.
    โ€ข Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting Agile development processes and maintaining technical documentation.
    โ€ข Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.
    Qualifications:
    Required:
    โ€ข Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
    โ€ข Minimum of six (6) years of professional software engineering experience.
    โ€ข Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities.
    โ€ข Experience designing and developing distributed, cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles.
    โ€ข Experience integrating AI or Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into enterprise applications.
    โ€ข Experience working within Agile software development environments.
    โ€ข Strong proficiency with Java, Java EE, Java 17, and Spring Framework.
    โ€ข Experience developing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
    โ€ข Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
    โ€ข Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3.
    โ€ข Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
    โ€ข Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern DevOps methodologies.
    โ€ข Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    โ€ข Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    โ€ข Ability to mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership.
    โ€ข Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
    โ€ข Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
    Preferred:
    โ€ข Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs or other federal government agencies.
    โ€ข Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.
    โ€ข Experience working within regulated healthcare environments.
    โ€ข Experience with intelligent automation, AI orchestration frameworks, or agent-based systems.
    โ€ข Professional certifications in AWS, Java, Agile, or related technologies are preferred.
    โ€ข Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust or other required security clearance.
