Varstaff is looking for a Structural Technician III
Job Description
As a Structural Technician III, you will use your skills and expertise to build major aerospace assembly structures and perform minor part-fitting operations. You will align components on jigs and vehicles using templates, measure parts for precision, incorporate engineering modifications into complete and incomplete assemblies, and monitor quality in accordance with control procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble major aerospace structures and perform part-fitting operations including filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
  • Align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates, fixtures, micrometers, and calipers to verify exact dimensions.
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate structural design changes.
  • Monitor and verify structural quality in accordance with statistical process and control procedures.
  • Safely inspect structures or vehicles and operate/supervise heavy machinery, dangerous equipment, or vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with typically 5 or more years of relevant experience (higher degree or related experience may substitute).
  • Progressive experience with structure assembly, minor part-fitting techniques, and aerospace repair/refinishing (e.g., airframe corrosion removal).
  • Proficiency in installing various aerospace fasteners, including rivets and hi-locks.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals to complete installations while maintaining proper edge distance and pitch.
  • Must own tools in good working order.
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, climb, perform repetitive hand/arm movements, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs in environments with loud noises and outdoor elements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, US Department of Defense, NASA, or the US Military.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
