Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Technology Architect with strategic analysis and enterprise-wide technology experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, and governance of enterprise payment, gateway, and digital transaction platforms.

  • Develop scalable solution architectures supporting cloud modernization, API-first strategies, and distributed systems.

  • Define architecture standards, technology roadmaps, reference architectures, and engineering best practices.

  • Partner with business, product, security, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

  • Provide technical leadership for complex integrations across internal platforms, third-party vendors, fintech partners, and payment networks.

  • Drive application resiliency, high availability, performance optimization, and operational excellence across critical systems.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve scalability, automation, security, and customer experience.

  • Mentor engineers and architects while influencing strategic technology decisions across multiple portfolios and initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
-At least 10 years experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies.
-At least 10 years experience with developing and implementing applications.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Enterprise Architecture experience designing large-scale, mission-critical technology platforms.

  • Strong expertise in Payments, Merchant Services, Payment Gateways, or high-volume transaction processing systems.

  • Deep knowledge of Cloud Architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), cloud-native design patterns, and container-based platforms.

  • Experience designing and governing API, Microservices, and Event-Driven Architectures.

  • Strong understanding of Security Architecture, authentication, authorization, encryption, and risk management principles.

  • Expertise with System Integration, third-party vendor connectivity, and enterprise service platforms.

  • Experience with High Availability, disaster recovery, observability, performance engineering, and reliability practices.

  • Excellent Technical Leadership, stakeholder management, solution consulting, and architecture governance skills.

Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
