Grief Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated Grief Counselor who is passionate about helping individuals and families through one of life's most difficult journeys.

What you'll do:


As a Grief Counselor, you will provide counseling, education, and support to hospice patients' families, community members, schools, workplaces, and contracted facilities. You will play an important role in helping individuals of all ages process grief while connecting them with meaningful resources and support.


Schedule: Monday - Friday, primarily daytime hours, with occasional evening availability (approximately 2โ€“4 hours per month) to facilitate grief support groups or meet with clients.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provide individual grief counseling for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
  • Develop and document individualized bereavement plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Facilitate grief support groups and maintain program documentation.
  • Assess client needs and connect individuals with appropriate community resources.
  • Educate families, community organizations, schools, and workplaces on topics related to grief, loss, and bereavement.
  • Participate in memorial services and other Grief Services events.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with department standards.
  • Collaborate with Unity Hospice staff to ensure compassionate, coordinated care.
  • Comply with all applicable policies, regulations, and required training.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work.
  • Previous experience working in the field of grief, loss, and end-of-life preferred.
  • Current Wisconsin licensure as one of the following:
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor in Training (LPC-IT)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

  • Ability to build trusting, compassionate relationships with clients of all ages.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Comfortable speaking to community groups and providing educational presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs while providing exceptional client care.

Requirements:
  1. Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling or Social Work required.
  2. Licensed in the state of Wisconsin as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor in Training (LPC-IT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is required.
  3. Previous experience working in the field of grief, loss, and end-of-life preferred.
  4. Valid WI Driversโ€™ License, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance coverage.
