Turner Industries Group is seeking an experienced Ironworker for a position in Kingsport, TN. The Ironworker position works as a member of a crew to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures and frameworks. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.
Essential Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of ironworker tools and how to use them
  • Rigging skills including wire rope slings
  • Some job sites may require NCCER certification
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements:
Off loads deliveries of structural material from the fabricator; sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members; fastens steel members to cable of hoist; signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member; guides member or rides on member in order to guide it into position; pulls or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device; forces members into final position; aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member; verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members; bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted; cuts steel members to make alterations; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
