Job description:

LPN / LVN – 5 Openings | Big Spring State Hospital – Big Spring, TX

Location: Big Spring, TX
Facility: Big Spring State Hospital
Openings: 5 Positions Available
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | Rotating Shifts | Every Other Weekend Off
Contract Length: 26 Weeks (6 Months Minimum)

Compensation

Travel Package (55+ miles from facility):

• $18/hr Taxable
• $945/week Tax-Free Stipends
• $1,625 Weekly Gross

Local Rate:

• $39/hr (no stipends)

Position Overview

We are seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs/LPNs) to join the team at Big Spring State Hospital, providing care in a behavioral health setting. This role includes structured onboarding and mentorship, making it a strong opportunity for nurses seeking stability and experience in a state facility environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including medication administration and treatments
• Educate patients on medications and care plans
• Complete accurate and timely documentation
• Perform computer data entry (training provided)
• Follow facility policies and procedures, including Joint Commission, CMS, and HHSC standards

Requirements

• Active LVN/LPN license
• Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements
• Must complete drug screening and fingerprinting (HHSC required)
• Must complete all facility and HHSC training requirements

Schedule Details

• Rotating shifts based on staffing needs
• Every other weekend off
• Ability to start any weekday (Mon–Fri) with at least 5 days for onboarding
• Includes 2–3 weeks of on-unit mentorship with experienced LVNs
