Position: Electrician (A Class) / 1st Class Electrician
Job Location: Pascagoula, MS
Trade Team Branch: Mobile, AL
Rate of Pay: $42.00 per hour, depending on level of experience / Per diem available for those who qualify
DESCRIPTION:
Trade Team USA is seeking experienced A Class / 1st Class Electricians for long-term opportunities at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. There are currently 50 openings, with positions expected to have an initial duration of one year and start dates as soon as possible.
An Ingalls First-Class Electrician, also referred to as an Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of shipboard electrical systems, including cables, lighting, electronic equipment, and shipboard power systems.
NO GO – NO EXCEPTION
The following experience alone will NOT qualify a candidate for this position:
  • Industrial Electricians will not be considered.
  • Cable Pullers will not be considered.
  • General Electricians will not be considered.
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to pulling cable, basic electrical installation, residential, commercial, or general industrial electrical work will not qualify.
YES – SPECIALTY TEST EXPERIENCE ONLY
Candidates should have demonstrated marine/shipboard electrical experience with an emphasis on:
  • Specialty electrical testing
  • High-voltage systems
  • Electrical test equipment
  • Shipboard power systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Marine/shipboard electrical installation, testing, and repair
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 4 years of qualifying electrical experience.
  • Marine/shipboard electrical experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have relevant high-voltage and electrical testing experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints.
  • Must be able to read and work from electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Must be able to work with both metric and standard measurements.
  • Must possess working knowledge of shipboard electrical systems and equipment.
  • Must be experienced with applicable electrical test equipment.
  • Must be able to perform electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Must be able to safely use electrical hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Must be able to work at varying heights and in confined spaces as required.
  • Must be available to work day or night shift depending on shipyard production requirements.
  • Must follow all applicable shipyard safety, quality, and production procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Marine or shipboard electrical experience.
  • High-voltage electrical experience.
  • Specialty electrical testing experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing shipboard electrical and electronic systems.
  • Experience with shipboard systems such as:
    • Sonar
    • Radar
    • Power distribution
    • Internal communications
    • Navigation systems
  • Previous shipbuilding experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform the layout, installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard electrical systems.
  • Install, route, secure, test, and repair shipboard cables and electrical components.
  • Install and repair shipboard lighting and electrical equipment.
  • Perform work associated with shipboard power and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Conduct electrical testing using appropriate test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical system deficiencies and failures.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, marine drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Work from both standard and metric measurements.
  • Utilize electrical hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform electrical work associated with sonar, radar, communications, navigation, power, and other shipboard systems when assigned.
  • Work at different heights and within confined spaces as required.
  • Maintain required safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Perform additional electrical duties as required by production and project needs.
