Dr. Talia Thompson, Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology, is responsible for the design, conduct, collaboration, and management of several ongoing clinical research projects in child and adolescent behavioral health through the CUB clinic at GSPP.

Position Summary

The Growing Together Group Facilitator is an advanced student research team member and clinical professional working with and under the supervision of Dr. Talia Thompson. Research team members will support, facilitate, and coordinate relevant clinical activities, playing a critical role in the maintenance of ongoing projects.

Supervision & Training

The student in this position will report to Dr. Talia Thompson in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology. Facilitators will receive extensive and ongoing training on multiple facets of research, through an on-going process of mentorship and regular team meetings.

JOB DESCRIPTION Essential Functions
  • Conduct clinical services, including delivering group psychotherapy to adolescents. and facilitating psychosocial support groups for parent caregivers of children with neurodiverse identities.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection (surveys, interviews, focus groups, photo voice, observations) and analysis (basic statistical analyses, coding, theme development).
  • Engage in other research projects and support as needed or as opportunities arise.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • This position requires ambition, conscientiousness, good attention to detail, strong communication skills, and flexibility with scheduling. More than anything, this research assistant should have a willingness to learn and invest in your own professional development. This is a demanding position that is designed to build your resume.
Required Qualifications
  • Current GSPP PsyD graduate student enrolled in the 2026-27 school year.
  • Basic understanding of and/or interest in child and adolescent development, family systems, and/or behavioral health clinical practice (psychotherapy, assessment) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in qualitative research methods, cognitive behavioral therapy, child and adolescent mental health, family social supports, disabilities and health psychology, and/or team leadership.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus
  • Capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
