Role Description

Thru Amanda's Lens is hiring a part-time Associate Portrait Photographer to conduct senior sessions on-site at outdoor locations around Ann Arbor, MI. This is an employee position working under Amanda's direction and brand standards. You'll capture sessions and submit all images to Amanda for review and final delivery to clients — no client-facing editing or delivery required. Responsibilities include preparing equipment, directing subjects during sessions, and ensuring lighting, composition, and styling align with the studio's aesthetic.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in portrait photography, including working with individuals, couples, and families
  • Proficiency with mirrorless cameras, lenses, and basic lighting equipment (natural and artificial light)
  • Familiarity with photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or equivalent) is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to direct subjects, build rapport, and create a comfortable session environment
  • Able to manage time, schedule sessions, and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail in composition, posing, color, and image quality, with a consistent artistic style
  • Reliable transportation to on-site locations within and around Ann Arbor, MI
  • Available part-time, including some evenings or weekends based on client needs
  • Prior experience in client-facing or service-oriented work is a plus
  • Portfolio of recent portrait work required; formal training in photography or visual arts is a plus but not mandatory
