API Lead

Position Overview

Client is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer Lead to join its API Engineering team.

This team plays a critical role in securing and modernizing the bank''s API infrastructure and is currently leading a strategic migration from Apigee to IBM API Connect.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical lead with strong experience in API gateway technologies, integration platforms, CI/CD automation, and enterprise infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of complex API and integration solutions.

• Support migration initiatives from Apigee to IBM API Connect.

• Configure, administer, and maintain API gateway platforms.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for API deployments.

• Troubleshoot integration issues and resolve production defects.

• Monitor system performance, SLAs, logs, and data quality metrics.

• Develop and maintain technical standards, policies, and best practices.

• Collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and business stakeholders.

• Manage multiple projects while ensuring timely delivery and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.

• Strong hands-on expertise with API Connect, Apigee, and DataPower.

• Experience with enterprise integration and API management platforms.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives.

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Background

• Banking or Financial Services experience.

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise API environments.

• Previous experience with API modernization or migration projects
