Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Tier I Monitoring Specialist will monitor video surveillance systems, electronic access control systems and other security and facility alarm systems protecting lives and property as assigned. The Tier I Monitoring Specialist uses modern technology to monitor a variety of alarm signals and respond to those alarms following pre-defined standard operating procedures to dispatch the proper authorities and notify the appropriate people. The alarm monitoring may result in the need to respond to clients or law enforcement via telephone. Shift work is required for 24/7; 365 coverage. This means that all employees are required to report to work during inclement weather and work some holidays. Mandatory overtime may be assigned at the discretion of management.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
  • Hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Monitors security access control systems, alarm systems, CCTV and other control programs and systems that protect company employees, contractors, visitors, and assets.
  • Capable of making reasonable assessments of possible threats when viewing security cameras.
  • Maintains accurate records of all work performed, materials used, and communicates any problem encountered or identified with security system.
  • Answers incoming lines, remaining calm, and speaking clearly to customers.
  • Provides timely, efficient, and professional service to all clients to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Attends to other matters and duties assigned by the Monitoring Center Manager or other executive staff of Tech Systems.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
This position has been designated as a safety-sensitive position under Company policy. Employees in this role perform duties where impaired performance could result in a significant risk of harm to themselves, coworkers, clients, or the public. This position is subject to the Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, including drug and alcohol testing, as permitted by applicable law.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associates degree in Technical or Criminal Justice, preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Security Operations Center or 911 Dispatch Center.
  • Some law enforcement and/or military background, a plus.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & COMPETENCY
  • Excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft based products (such as MS Word, Excel, MS Office Suite, and Outlook) and the Internet.
  • Experience with physical security, to include video surveillance.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced mission critical environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including a sense of urgency when attending to internal needs.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, including, but not limited to, the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong time management skills, including ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including, but not limited to, the ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with Tech Systems' staff, vendors, and customers.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safe work practices by complying with all Company safety policies and procedures and performing work in a manner that protects employees, customers, and the public.

D. DRIVER'S LICENSE
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a clean driving record, satisfactory to Tech Systems' automobile insurance carrier.

F. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Job duties are performed in an office setting. This position will report to the Buford office with some telecommuting. Shift work is required for 24/7 coverage, it is expected that this position will require some work outside of the normal schedule.
