Job description

About the Role:
The CNC Programmer is a full-time, onsite precision manufacturing role responsible for developing CNC programs and manufacturing processes that transform engineering drawings and CAD models into finished machined components. This position is ideal for candidates searching for CNC Programmer, CAD/CAM Programmer, CNC Manufacturing Programmer, CNC Machining Programmer, Mazak Programmer, Swiss CNC Programmer, or CNC Programmer/Machinist opportunities. The role requires strong hands-on machining knowledge and the ability to independently program, set up, prove out, troubleshoot, and optimize complex CNC machining processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop CNC programs from engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and dimensional requirements using CAD/CAM programming software.
  • Independently take components from drawing or model through process planning, CNC programming, tooling selection, machine setup, prove-out, inspection, and finished production.
  • Create and optimize CNC toolpaths, machining sequences, feeds and speeds, cutting parameters, and tooling strategies for precision components.
  • Set up and prove out new CNC programs, verify machine movements, establish offsets, and make necessary adjustments to achieve dimensional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot CNC programs, toolpaths, machining conditions, tooling, workholding, dimensional variation, and production process issues.
  • Perform first-piece verification and work with inspection and quality personnel to confirm components meet engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Modify and optimize existing CNC programs to improve cycle time, tool life, process capability, repeatability, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, workholding methods, and machining strategies based on part geometry, material, tolerances, and equipment capabilities.
  • Provide technical programming and machining support to CNC machinists, setup machinists, and production personnel.
  • Support new product introduction, engineering changes, process development, manufacturing launches, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Significant CNC programming and precision machining experience in a production or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently program CNC components from engineering drawings or CAD models through completed machined parts.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming for precision machining applications.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, G-code concepts, toolpaths, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, workholding, fixtures, offsets, and machine setup.
  • Ability to independently set up and prove out CNC programs and safely troubleshoot issues during initial production.
  • Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience using precision measurement equipment and performing first-piece and in-process dimensional verification.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to CNC programs, machining processes, tooling, dimensional issues, and part quality.
  • Experience optimizing CNC programs for cycle time, tool life, process stability, repeatability, and production efficiency.
  • Ability to work full time in an onsite precision manufacturing environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience programming Mazak CNC equipment using Mazatrol or related programming methods.
  • Experience with PartMaker or programming Swiss-style CNC machining equipment.
  • Experience programming multi-axis, 5-axis, mill-turn, Swiss, or other advanced CNC machining platforms.
  • Previous programming experience for medical device, aerospace, or other tight-tolerance regulated manufacturing applications.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction, process development, prove-outs, and transition from prototype to production.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, design for manufacturability, process optimization, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
