Job description

Driver II
1st Shift:
7A to 3P
Onsite: New Albany, OH – Meta site
5+ Months Contract

• Materials the drivers will be hauling: Passive optical communications materials. Non-hazardous materials.
Whether the drivers will operate exclusively on the Meta campus using box trucks: Primarily yes; they will have to be on public roads to get gas, oil changes, air tires and move from warehouse to data center. There is no "long haul” activity and will be primarily on Meta campus.
The Truck Driver safely operates a straight truck to support a lean, pull-system material flow operation primarily within a single business campus. The position completes multiple short-cycle runs per shift, receiving and verifying inbound material, loading customer orders, transporting material to end-use locations, unloading, and transferring material from pallets to rollable racks when required. The driver executes mobile inventory transactions and maintains accurate, traceable material handoffs from receipt through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Safely operate the assigned straight truck on campus routes and any approved public-road segments; complete required vehicle inspections and follow site traffic, dock, load-securement, and parking procedures.
• Unload inbound material; verify part number, container, quantity, condition, and supporting information against the purchase order or receiving documentation.
• Complete required receipt scans and move verified material to the designated receiving location. Report shortages, overages, damage, incorrect material, or documentation discrepancies; do not perform warehouse putaway unless separately authorized.
• Execute multiple short-cycle transportation runs per shift based on customer orders, dispatch priorities, Kanban signals, or WMS-generated transportation moves.
• Load the truck according to customer orders; verify items and quantities, maintain order integrity, distribute and secure loads appropriately, and complete dispatch transactions.
• Transport material to the correct end-use, staging, or supermarket location; unload safely and confirm delivery.
• Break down palletized material and transfer it to designated rollable racks when required, maintaining identification and quantity accuracy throughout the transfer.
• Use handheld/mobile technology to record item, container, source and destination locations, quantity, operator, transaction type, delivery status, and timestamp.
• Maintain physical-to-system inventory accuracy and clear chain of custody at receiving, loading, staging, and delivery handoff points.
• Identify and report damaged, short, over, wrong, missing, contaminated, or quality-hold material using the established exception process and applicable reason codes.
• Follow standard work, visual controls, designated routes, housekeeping expectations, and escalation procedures. Communicate delays, stockouts, unsafe conditions, equipment issues, and process abnormalities promptly.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying unnecessary movement, waiting, handling, scanning, or transportation activity.
Qualifications
• Valid state-issued driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle and a driving record acceptable to company and insurance requirements.
• Prior straight-truck, local-delivery, material-handling, warehouse, or campus logistics experience preferred.
• Ability to read and verify purchase orders, customer orders, part numbers, quantities, container labels, locations, and shipping/receiving documents.
• Ability to operate handheld scanners or mobile WMS applications accurately and consistently.
• Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive, repetitive-cycle environment.
• Training and authorization for pallet jacks, liftgates, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment required when those devices are assigned.
• Physical Requirements
• Frequently enter and exit the truck cab; stand, walk, bend, reach, turn, climb, and work from truck beds, docks, receiving areas, staging areas, and end-use locations.
• Push, pull, position, load, and unload pallets, carts, pallet jacks, and rollable racks.
• Safely lift and carry materials within site-approved limits, using mechanical assistance or team lifting when required.
• Work around moving vehicles and material-handling equipment and in indoor and outdoor campus conditions, including variable weather and temperatures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow established ergonomic and safe-material-handling practices.
Success Measures
• Safe vehicle operation and consistent completion of required inspections.
• Reliable completion of planned short-cycle runs and transportation signals.
• Accurate PO, customer-order, quantity, condition, and destination verification.
• Complete and timely mobile receipt, movement, and delivery transactions.
• Physical material matching the recorded receiving, staging, and delivery location.
• Damage-free, correctly staged deliveries with clear chain of custody.
• Prompt identification and escalation of discrepancies and exceptions.
• Consistent adherence to standard work and continuous improvement of campus material flow.
