Job description

Join a well-established engineering consulting firm that supports private-sector development projects across commercial and industrial markets. This Construction Inspector role will support an upcoming concrete plant construction project in Columbus, Ohio, while also addressing ongoing inspection needs tied to the Pittsburgh region. The Construction Inspector will perform construction phase testing and inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. Candidates may be based in either the Columbus or Pittsburgh area, with Pittsburgh-based inspectors offering the opportunity for continued project assignments and longer-term growth beyond the completion of the Columbus project.
Responsibilities:
* Perform construction phase inspection and testing of concrete, earthwork, soil compaction, and reinforcing steel
* Conduct concrete testing including slump, air content, temperature, and compressive strength sampling
* Perform soil density testing using a Nuclear Density Gauge
* Inspect reinforcing steel placement and general site conditions
* Document field activities and prepare accurate inspection and testing reports
* Support multiple job sites as assigned, including travel to surrounding regions as needed
Required Skills & Experience:
* 4 plus years of construction inspection and materials testing experience
* Current ACI Concrete Field Testing certification
* Experience performing concrete testing and soil density testing
* Comfortable with daily travel to job sites and variable work locations
* Valid driver"s license and ability to use a personal vehicle for work related travel with mileage reimbursed.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Nuclear Density Gauge certification
* Experience inspecting reinforcing steel
* ICC Structural Steel and Bolting certification
* Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
