Job description

Electrical (E amp;I) Controls Technician – Sofidel America
Sofidel is a global leader in the production of tissue paper for domestic and hygienic use. With a steadfast commitment to sustainability, innovation, and safety, we deliver high-quality products to households across the United States.
Sofidel America, a key player in tissue manufacturing, is seeking a dedicated Electrical (E amp;I) Control Technician to join our team. This critical role ensures the maintenance and optimization of electrical functions across our machines and equipment, particularly in the converting area, to support seamless operations and maximum productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair low- and high-voltage electrical issues.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, DCS, and HMI systems.
  • Work with VFDs, motor controls, and industrial networks.
  • Optimize control system performance for continuous improvement.
  • Follow safety protocols, including LOTO, OSHA, and NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Maintain documentation for calibrations, wiring diagrams, and modifications.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering teams.
  • Assist in operator and technician training on control systems.
  • Provide input on system upgrades, new installations, and automation projects.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of electrical/instrumentation maintenance experience in industrial settings.
  • Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), DCS, SCADA, and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical circuits and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Ability to read schematics, P amp;IDs, and electrical diagrams.
  • Understanding of 480V power distribution, transformers, and grounding.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience with high-voltage equipment, rotating machinery, and elevated workspaces.
  • Availability for overtime, on-call duty, and emergency response as needed.
