Job description

This is an on-site position.

Audiology Services is a long-standing private hearing healthcare practice that has proudly served the Belmont community for nearly 40 years. We are known for delivering personalized care and creating a welcoming, supportive experience for every patient who walks through our doors.

We are seeking a Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist to support the practice’s insurance and billing operations while assisting with patient communication and front office support as needed.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed administrative work, problem-solving, and helping patients navigate the financial side of their care.

Position Overview:

The Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist is responsible for managing the practice’s core insurance and billing functions, including insurance verification, prior authorizations, claims submission, payment posting, denial follow-up, and patient account support.

This role works closely with patients, insurance carriers, and internal team members to help ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and a positive patient experience. While the primary focus of this position is medical billing and insurance coordination, the role also provides occasional front office support, including scheduling assistance, patient check-in/check-out, and phone coverage as needed.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing administrative accuracy with compassionate patient communication.

Key Responsibilities:
Billing & Insurance Coordination
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements
  • Submit and track insurance claims accurately and efficiently
  • Follow up on denied or rejected claims and manage appeals
  • Post insurance and patient payments and maintain accurate account records
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement issues
  • Assist patients with billing questions, balances, and payment-related concerns
  • Maintain accurate and HIPAA-compliant billing documentation and workflows
Administrative & Patient Support
  • Assist with patient scheduling and appointment coordination
  • Greet and check in patients as needed
  • Provide phone support and route calls appropriately
  • Support day-to-day administrative functions within the office
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to help ensure a smooth patient experience
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing, insurance coordination, or revenue cycle support
  • Experience in a private practice healthcare setting preferred (audiology, ENT, PT/OT, optometry, dental, or similar)
  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable communicating with both insurance representatives and patients
  • Ability to multitask and adapt within a collaborative small-practice environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Benefits:
  • Health insurance fully funded by the employer
  • Matching retirement plan
  • Paid time off and holidays
