Job description

About Us:

At Vertical Mechanical Group, we are dedicated to delivering top-tier projects in the Mechanical and Plumbing sector. We pride ourselves on innovation, quality, and teamwork. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented and motivated Commissioning Engineer to join our dynamic team.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Commissioning Engineer to join our commissioning team. This role will report directly to the Commissioning Manager and will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and performance of our mechanical and plumbing systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and plumbing systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Commissioning is a quality assurance process carried out by a third-party agent who will observe, test, and confirm that our work as the mechanical and plumbing contractor meets the project specifications. The Commissioning Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that complex systems and equipment are properly installed, tested, and operational prior to the Commissioning Agent's visit. This role involves working closely with our project managers and field team, third-party commissioning agents, and other contractors to ensure that projects are successfully commissioned and meet our quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a construction related field AND 4+ years of experience in MEP systems commissioning, testing, or a related field.
  • Commissioning Certification (BCxP, CxA, CxT, CCP, etc.) preferred, not required.
  • Possess a strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and control systems. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting design documents and specifications, specifically a strong understanding of operations and controls.
  • Ability to travel to different project locations, specifically in the DMV region, as required.

We offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including base salary, financial and medical benefits, PTO, and a 401(k).

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is an industry leader that brings expertise in both HVAC and Plumbing. Our company was originally known as Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc and Inspiration Plumbing Company.
