Job description
We're looking for a Project Manager who genuinely enjoys the craft of delivery - someone who gets energized by building strong client relationships, untangling complex problems, and making sure projects land on time and on budget.
In this role, you'll lead enterprise SaaS implementations for utility clients across North America, serving as their trusted advisor from kickoff through go-live. You'll work closely with clients and internal teams, balancing competing priorities while keeping projects on track financially and operationally. This is a highly visible, client-facing role where your communication and leadership skills matter just as much as your project management chops.
This role involves periodic travel to client sites across the US and Canada. You'll need to be able to travel freely between both countries.
We evaluate candidates against our PM I-III competency framework throughout the process, so we can ensure the right leveling based on your experience. We typically hire at the PM I and PM II levels, though we do bring on PM IIIs when candidates bring direct utility industry experience to the table.
- Leading enterprise SaaS Implementations using SpryPoint's hybrid delivery methodology
- Building and maintaining realistic project schedules with accurate task assignments, effort tracking, and clear ownership
- Managing project financials end-to-end - budgets, revenue forecasting, effort estimation and variance tracking
- Coordinating with Professional Services and Development teams to balance workloads and define clear timelines
- Owning scope change conversations with clients, evaluating impact against schedules, contingencies and acceptance criteria
- Keeping project documentation detailed, accurate and aligned to SOW requirements
- Communicating confidently with client stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership
- Navigating resource allocation across a matrix organization with multiple concurrent projects
- 3+ years of enterprise project management experience
- Strong financial acumen - you're comfortable owning a budget and forecasting effort and revenue
- Familiarity with both waterfall and agile methodologies; hybrid experience is a plus
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills - you can influence at every level, from project teams to the C-suite
- A highly organized, detail-oriented approach with strong written and documentation skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple client-facing projects at once
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in project management or business administration
- PMP, CAPM, or a comparable designation (active or in progress) is an asset
- Experience in or strong familiarity with the utilities industry (electric, water, wastewater, gas, sanitation) - this is required for PM III consideration
- Familiarity with management information systems such as CIS, WAMS, MWM, or GIS
- Experience with web-based portfolio or project management tools
A relaxed conversation to learn more about your background, your goals, and what's drawing you to SpryPoint.
A deeper dive into your delivery approach, project management experience, and leadership style. This may be with a PM Manager or Portfolio Director, depending on availability.
You'll receive a mid-project scenario for a fictional utility client. Your job is to diagnose what's gone wrong, assess the risks, complete a budget analysis, and build a recovery plan. Think of it as a bit of a scavenger hunt - we'll give you the pieces, and you get to figure out what happened. You'll then present your findings to the panel during the final interview.
You'll walk senior leadership through your approach and have a chance to talk through your thinking in a collaborative conversation. Depending on availability, the Chief of Staff, Portfolio Director, and PM Manager will be part of the final presentation.
We'll check your references to confirm the great things we've learned about you. If all goes well, we'll be thrilled to extend an offer and hopefully welcome you to the team!
