Job description

Future Standard is seeking a Vice President, Engineering - HR Technology to lead the technical strategy, architectural direction, and delivery of HR, people operations, and workforceanalytics data across the firm. This role serves as a senior technical partner to both HR and Technology leadership, bridging business priorities and engineering execution.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong handson foundation, capable of translating complex workforce, compensation, and organizational requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions. The Vice President will guide architecture and implementation while partnering closely with HR and Technology stakeholders to ensure sensitive employee data is accurately modeled, responsibly governed, and reliably delivered in support of decisionmaking, compliance, and longterm business needs.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE IS EXPECTED TO:

- Lead and build fullstack, enterprisegrade platforms using Python, Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, and SQL/NoSQL databases, while remaining handson with code.
- Own and drive LowLevel Design (LLD) and HighLevel Design (HLD) with deep understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and integration patterns.
- Architect and develop secure, compliant systems.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs that support internal and external consumers with high performance and reliability.
- Drive nonfunctional requirements including security, availability, scalability, resiliency, performance, and observability.
- Lead engineering initiatives involving HR, peopleoperations, and workforceanalytics data, ensuring secure ingestion, modeling, governance, and integration of sensitive employee datasets across the firm's technology ecosystem.
- Partner with HR, Talent, and People Analytics teams to translate workforceplanning, compensation, performancemanagement, and organizationaldesign requirements into scalable technical solutions and data products.
- Implement robust dataquality, lineage, and privacy controls for HR data, ensuring compliance with regulatory, contractual, and internal governance standards.
- Partner with product, data, and HR stakeholders to translate investment and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Provide strong technical leadership and handson guidance across the full software development lifecycle.
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design tradeoffs.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
- 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven track record of handson development in enterprisescale systems, preferably in HR.
- Strong proficiency in at least one core programming language (Python or Java).
- Deep experience with relational databases, NoSQL stores, and complex query design.
- Comfortable operating in fastpaced, iterative environments, balancing delivery with longterm architecture.
- Experience working with HR, peopleoperations, or workforceanalytics data, including sensitivedata handling, HRIS integrations (e.g., Dayforce, Culture Amp, etc.), and secure dataexchange patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to build or support platforms involving employee lifecycle data, compensation structures, organizational hierarchies, and talentmanagement workflows.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure, including infrastructureascode and cloudnative services.
- Experience with modern data engineering stacks including Snowflake, PowerBI, and analytical data platforms.
- Prior experience supporting HR operations technology platforms.
- Working knowledge of HR Information Systems platforms. 
- Experience integrating HR data with enterprise analytics, financial systems, or operational platforms to support firmwide reporting, compliance, and workforce insights.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior business leaders and align technology delivery with investment, operational, and peoplestrategy priorities.
Salary Range: Expected base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $185,000/year 
This range represents base salary only and does not include bonus or other forms of compensation. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to relevant experience, peer and market data, business sector, and/or geographic location. This role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
