About the Job

The Patient Relations Representative supports the Central Billing Office within the Revenue Cycle department and plays a key role in promoting revenue integrity. This position is responsible for resolving patient billing questions accurately and efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service. The role is onsite and involves frequent interaction with patients, families, internal departments, and external vendors.

What You'll Do

  • Respond to patient billing inquiries via phone, email, and in person, documenting all interactions in the electronic patient accounting system

  • Review and explain accounts receivable processes, insurance payments, and patient financial responsibility

  • Assist patients and family members in understanding insurance Explanation of Benefits and resolving billing concerns

  • Determine appropriate payment resolution paths, including payment in full, payment plans, Medicaid, or other options

  • Collaborate with Financial Counselors, Early Out vendors, and Bad Debt vendors

  • Support internal departments with billingrelated questions

  • Correct and update patient demographic and insurance information as needed

  • Manage assigned work queues and special billing projects

  • Forward attorney and collection agency inquiries to Revenue Cycle leadership

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Who You Are / Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or a related role within a hospital, physician office, or insurance setting

  • Working knowledge of CMS guidelines, thirdparty payers, Medicaid, managed care products, workers' compensation, and liability plans

  • Understanding of state and federal regulations related to selfpay collections and Fair Debt Policy

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow through on tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, highcallvolume environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior EPIC billing experience

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
