    | WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
    Slate Auto, a pioneering U.S.-based electric vehicle company, seeks an accomplished and innovative Head of Electrical Engineering to lead and grow our Electrical Engineering organization. This director-level role is responsible for organizational development, talent acquisition, mentorship, and implementing best-in-class processes for product development. The ideal candidate will drive technical excellence and operational efficiency, ensuring Slate sets new benchmarks for reliability, efficiency, and affordability in the EV market.
    | WHAT YOU GET TO DO
    • Provide strategic leadership and management for the Electrical Engineering team, overseeing the design and implementation of low-voltage vehicle electrical systems and components.
    • Define and manage system and component technical specifications, guide component design and sourcing, and ensure robust engineering processes, including DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, HARA Risk Analysis, and technical reviews.
    • Direct the development and deployment of EE Zonal Architecture and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms, supporting advanced vehicle features, distributed systems, and network security.
    • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity risk management, including threat assessment, vulnerability mitigation, and implementation of robust security protocols in automotive systems.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29, and best practices for securing connected and autonomous vehicle platforms.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end cybersecurity integration throughout product development and lifecycle management.
    • Flash Over The Air product plan for launching Job-2 software solutions to customers.
    • Champion the integration of autonomous driving features, including ADAS, sensor fusion, and perception algorithms, and maintain rigorous standards for embedded and application software validation.
    • Supervise and mentor a team of senior managers and lead engineers, scaling the organization to meet evolving product requirements and collaborating closely with Program Management to achieve project milestones.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards (NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, ISO 26262, ASPICE, SAE J3061, etc.) and lead the development of thorough technical documentation.
    • Foster a high-performing, adaptable team culture in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    | WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited (ABET or equivalent) institution.
    • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 8 years in technical leadership roles within the automotive or mobility sectors.
    • Proven expertise in EE Zonal Architecture, SDV platform development, distributed system design, power distribution, and network security.
    • Extensive experience with autonomous vehicle and ADAS projects, sensor integration, and software validation.
    • Advanced knowledge of systems engineering, software and systems validation methodologies, and regulatory compliance standards.
