Job description
Role Overview
SJ Hamill Construction has an immediate opening for a Carpenter in Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will have experience in carpentry work related to bridge construction projects. As a Bridge Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining bridges using a variety of tools and materials.Â
Primary Responsibilities
- Construct and repair bridge structures according to blueprints and specifications Â
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, concrete, and other materials to build bridge componentsÂ
- Install and secure bridge components such as beams, trusses, and railings Â
- Ensure that all work meets safety standards and regulations Â
- Collaborate with other construction team members to complete projects on time and within budget Â
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, preferably with a focus on bridge construction Â
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials Â
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Â
- Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship  Â
- Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions Â
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills Â
