Job description

Shimmick is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to support the Daly City Vista Grande Drainage Basin Improvements Project in Daly City, CA. This $150M+ project will divert stormwater from the Vista Grande Watershed to South Lake Merced and better manage stormwater transport to the Pacific Ocean to increase lake levels, improve stormwater quality, and help restore the Lake Merced Drainage Basin's natural hydrology.

Northwest Division

Shimmick’s Northwest Division, headquartered in Suisun City, California, focuses on large public owners in Northern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. In addition, this division was awarded the APWA 2019 Public Works Project Award in the environment category for the Alameda Creek Fish Passage project in California.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing project implementation including schedule, budgets, quality and safety.Resource planning and management - including managing company resources assigned to the project as well as third party vendors, designers, fabricators and contractors.
  • Direct the efforts of the full engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction management, and commissioning team in creating the execution plans, organization, and contracts needed to deliver the project within the stated cost and schedule.
  • Continue to build a positive relationship with highly important & strategic clients who have significant future work in the area.
  • Preparing and issuing Progress Reports and ensuring timely payments.
  • Monitoring compliance with various regulatory statues as well as compliance with applicable Shimmick policies and procedures.
  • Project stakeholder management and interface.
  • Creation and implementation of Project Updates – Job Status Reports and Quarterly EAC Reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field + 4 years of relevant project management experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and risk mitigation.
  • Heavy civil construction project experience in Northern California.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with self-perform civil construction projects.
  • Experience with heavy civil water/wastewater or water resources projects.

Additional Information:

  • This position is based in Northern California.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for a United States work authorization.

The salary range for this position is between $125,000 - $160,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.

Shimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA. The Company also provides employer paid STD, LTD, basic life and AD&D, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additional voluntary benefit offerings include pet insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness insurance, legal and identity theft protection.

These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
