Job description

Description
  • Providing Virtualization Engineering/design support on a wide range of technologies, including VMware vSphere 7.x+, HA, DRS, vSwitches (standard and distributed), VMWare Horizon 8+, Site Recovery Manager, Teradic MC, Profile Management, Certificate Services, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies, and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
  • Designing and implementing VMware vSphere/ESXi, Horizon, SAN Technologies, and other Virtual technologies concepts
  • Providing maintenance and sustainment packages for multiple small datacenters systems by providing Engineering/integration support of multiple servers, VMware ESXI Servers and Virtual machines
  • Performing independent high-level implementation of design for enterprise application systems
  • Engineering and designing the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the Virtualization system framework
  • Assisting in generating a set of acceptance test and requirements for complex systems, together with the designers, test engineers, and the user to determine that all of the high-level requirements have been met, especially for the computer-human-interface
  • Producing virtualization architectural drawings and schematic diagrams
  • Developing and maintaining all virtual workstation and server images
  • Maintaining virus definitions, patch versions, and security compliance baselines in accordance with current government standards, i.e. DISA STIG, CIS Benchmark
  • Reviewing proposed improvements and modifications from field units, depot maintenance personnel, and contractors/vendors for feasibility and provide feedback to IPT
  • Preparing (program) firmware devices to support software upgrades, to include erasing, programming, verifying, and marking programmable devices

Requirements
  • Be able to obtain a Security+ and VMW or VCP certification within 6 months
  • Good knowledge in using VMware vSphere
  • Three plus years of experience implementing, and maintaining a VMware VDI (View/Horizon) environment
  • Three plus years of experience supporting a VMware vSphere 7.x+ environment and related components
  • Three plus years and experience with VMware Horizon and it-s components to include: Dell, AMD, WYSE Zero Clients
  • Experience with software defined storage architecture, SAN Technologies, RAID, disk-subsystem, file system, snapshot, replication, and deduplication
  • Basic Networking skills required with a general knowledge of VLANS, and Subnets
  • Familiarity with IA Controls (DISA STIGS) for Windows and Linux systems
  • Familiarity with back up and restoration operations for Linux operating system using commercial off the shelf products (COTS), i.e. KickStart scripts.
  • Experience creating manual restoration processes or scripted implementation for both backup and recovery operations for Linux systems
Desired Skills
  • B.S. Degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016 - 2022 operating systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 engineering, optimization, and automation
  • Experience developing, testing, and deploying configuration baselines based on DISA STIG and Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmark
  • Experience transitioning from a physical system (Hardware) to a virtual system (P2V)
  • Experience troubleshooting, patching and administration of Linux distros(RHEL)
  • Experience troubleshooting, patching and administration of VMware ESXI servers, and Vsphere Vcenter Server
  • Experience Installing and Configuration of VMWare ESXI Servers, Hypervisors
