As a Staff AI Software Engineer on Sanofi's R&D Data & AI Products and Platforms Team, you will play a pivotal role in driving our digital transformation. Our mission is to accelerate drug discovery and deliver better treatments to patients faster by leveraging AI at scale.

This position is a cornerstone of Sanofi's AI-first strategy, focused on building enterprise-grade Data & AI products for R&D use cases. We aim to democratize data access and scale AI/ML capabilities across the organization, enabling scientists and researchers to unlock insights that were previously out of reach.

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural vision for multiple complex AI initiatives.

  • Use your expertise to help reduce technical dependencies, establish engineering standards, and mentor junior engineers, ensuring we deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

  • Help execute our ambitious roadmap for 2026 and beyond, supporting key innovation "leapfrogs" that will redefine how we discover and develop medicines.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead architectural design of enterprise-scale AI/ML products across multiple R&D use cases

  • Drive technical strategy and roadmap planning with significant autonomy in decision-making

AI/ML Product Engineering:

  • Engineer end-to-end AI/ML products including workflows, APIs, databases, and user interfaces

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor small engineering teams with technical guidance and career development

Cross-Functional Influence:

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

  • Influence product strategy through technical expertise and AI/ML capabilities knowledge

About You

Experience & Leadership:

  • Bachelor's required. Master's preferred

  • +7 years experience of AI/ML product engineering experience with proven track record of complex, production-grade systems

  • Demonstrated experience leading small engineering teams and mentoring junior/mid-level engineers

  • Proven ability to drive technical strategy and influence cross-functional stakeholders

Technical Expertise:

  • Advanced proficiency with SQL, Python, Java, AWS, Snowflake, data analytics tools

  • Expert-level experience designing and scaling APIs/Endpoints (Flask, Django, FastAPI)

  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and AI/ML model deployment infrastructure

  • Strong experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and MLOps practices
