Job Summary:

The Senior Center Driver is responsible for safely transporting senior citizens to and from the senior center and other designated locations such as medical appointments, grocery stores, and recreational outings. The driver plays a key role in supporting the independence and well-being of older adults in the community, providing courteous, reliable, and timely service.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a city- or organization-owned vehicle in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Transport seniors to and from scheduled destinations, including the senior center, appointments, and group outings.

  • Assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle, especially those with mobility challenges (using walkers, canes, or wheelchairs).

  • Maintain a daily log of mileage, destinations, and passenger counts.

  • Ensure the vehicle is clean, fueled, and properly maintained; report any maintenance needs promptly.

  • Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations at all times.

  • Communicate respectfully and compassionately with seniors and staff.

  • Participate in trainings related to senior care, first aid, and defensive driving, as required.

  • Respond calmly and appropriately in case of emergencies.

  • Perform light clerical tasks as assigned (e.g., filing transportation forms, scheduling pickups).
