About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilledย CNC Lathe Programmerย with strong hands-on experience inย setup, programming, and precision machining. This position is best suited for professionals who can independently take a part fromย print to production, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is not an operator-level role โ the ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of machining principles, tooling strategy, and program optimization, along with the ability to troubleshoot and refine processes in real time.
Key Responsibilities- Program CNC lathes usingย Mastercamย (Lathe module) to produce complex, tight-tolerance components
- Performย full machine setup, including workholding, tool selection, offsets, and zeroing
- Interpret engineering drawings and determine:
- Machining sequence
- Tooling strategy
- Cutting parameters
- Executeย first-piece inspectionย and make necessary adjustments to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Conductย in-process inspectionsย and maintain consistent quality standards
- Optimize programs for cycle time, tool life, and machining efficiency
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions independently
- Maintain documentation such as job travelers, inspection reports, and setup sheets
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines

- Strong understanding of:
- G-code structure and editing
- Tool offsets and compensation
- Feeds, speeds, and material behavior
- Experience working withย tight tolerances and close precision parts

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills on the shop floor
Technical Requirements- 3โ5+ years of experience inย CNC Lathe Programming & Setup
- Proficiency inย Mastercam (Lathe)
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T understanding
- Experience with precision measuring instruments:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Gauges
- Familiarity with machining materials such as:
- Aluminum (e.g., 6061)
- Steel and alloys
Candidate Evaluation Process (Important)

Evaluation Includes:1. Programming & Process Understanding- Identify stock size based on part drawing
- Define machining sequence and number of operations
- Explain setup approach:

2. CNC Knowledge Assessment- Understanding of:
- Feed rates, spindle speeds, and offsets
- Absolute vs incremental programming
- Machine modes and controls
- Ability to interpret and troubleshoot program behavior
3. Practical Problem-Solving- Analyze machining scenarios and identify issues related to:
- Tool offsets
- Program errors
- Dimensional inaccuracies
- Recommend corrective actions
