    Reports to:ย Vice President of Quantum Computing Servicesย 

    Summaryย 

    QuEra is seeking aSeniorย Technical Program Managerย to leadย programย managementย activitiesย around productย andย service deliveryย ofย QuEra'sย quantum computers, starting withAquila andย Gemini,and extending to future generations of QuEra systems.ย 

    This role isexecution-orientedand inherently cross-functional, coordinating work across hardwareย andย softwareย engineering,ย researchย andย operations.The role includes limitedproduct management responsibilities, scoped torequirementsย collection and feedback, and is expected to workย collaboratively with futureย dedicatedย product management hires.ย 

    Thisย role is designed toย fulfill these goals, and to evolve as the company grows and the needs change:ย 

    • Ensure reliable delivery and operation of gate-based quantum computers,ย 
    • Establish a structured feedback loop from customers and users back into engineering, andย align customer projects for success,ย 
    • Support theย product development workย on QuEra's systemsย towards industrial-grade, TRL=9 platforms,ย through disciplined program execution,ย 
    • Enable progress tracking and transparent communicationย acrossย allย stakeholders.ย 

    Year 1 focusย 

    Theย main focusย in year 1 will be toย supportย the success ofย QuEra'sย overall AIST programย whichย consists ofย 4ย threadsย centered around our first gate-based system Gemini:ย 

    1. [Product]ย Launchingย two product lines on top of the on-premย Geminiย machineย at AIST: Gemini-QEC, aย platform for error correction researchers, and Gemini-NISQ, a platformย forย NISQ-era application developers. Initial product launches will be followed by plannedย upgrades and feature releases in quick succession.ย 
    2. [Customers & Projects]ย Enablingย the success of concrete customers and customer projects on the Gemini machine at AIST, which divide into preview projects (leading up to each product/feature release and leveraging close collaboration with theย machine team), and GA projects (following each product/feature release and utilizing the generally available capabilities).ย Customer success in this context will depend on a fine balance of customer experience, data quality, andย timelyย execution of project phases.ย 
    3. [Integration]ย Completing system integration withย access/distribution partners, in two modalities: HPC integration, and cloud integration.ย 
    4. [Development]ย Achievingย milestones in the NEDO program focused on developing the hardware and software systems towards industrial-grade quantum computers by 2030. This development work is not independent of, but rather on the critical path for 1-3.ย 

    Key responsibilitiesย 

    1. Product:ย 

    • Translate high-level product goalsย and technicalย roadmapย into executable plans, milestones, and dependencies.ย 
    • Track risks, schedules, and cross-team deliverables to ensure on-time, high-qualityย product launches.ย 

    2. Customers and Projects

    • Act as the program coordination point for customer co-design and onboarding efforts.ย 
    • Ensure customer expectations, constraints, and feedback are clearly communicated and tracked.ย 
    • Support technical teams by managing structure, timelines, and communication.ย 

    3. Integration

    • Act as theย programย coordination point for integration activities, including alignmentย efforts and end-to-end tests.ย 
    • Collect and synthesize requirements from integration partners and stakeholders, spanning functional and non-functional requirementsย (e.g.ย APIย payload vs API security).ย ย 

    4. Development

    • Align timelines,ย requirementsย and dependencies, with awareness ofย product,ย businessย and operational constraints.ย 
    • Track progress and support documentationย efforts.ย 
    • Support reportingย effortsย for external stakeholders (e.g.ย NEDO program management).ย 
    • Contribute to QuEra's readiness for scaling gate-based quantum computing beyond Gemini, including operational and organizational considerations.ย 

    To achieve a balanced success in 1-4 above,ย the role will take responsibility for managing machine timeย across activities,ย machine use agreements,ย andย regulatory requirements (e.g.ย data privacy, network security, etc.).ย 

    Qualification & Profileย 

    Required:ย 

    • Engineering background (e.g., semiconductor, systems engineering, advanced computing infrastructure).ย 
    • Experience intechnical program management, system delivery, or execution of complex technical products.ย 
    • Strong ability to coordinate across multiple teams and external stakeholders.ย 
    • Comfort in customer-facing, execution-oriented roles.ย 
    • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.ย 

    Preferred:ย 

    • Experience withย on-premiseย deployments and security/network-constrained environments.ย 
    • Exposure toย quantum computing, HPC, or advanced computing platforms.ย 
    • Experience working with government, national lab, or research customers.ย 
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new technical domains quickly.

    The approximate base salary range for this position is $170,000-250,000

    We consistently monitor external market data and update base salary ranges accordingly.ย  We determine base compensation decisions on several factors, including as geographic placement, role-specific knowledge, skills, and/or experience.ย  In addition to our base salary offerings, we also provide equity grants for all new hires.
