About the Role
Join a team that is pushing the boundaries of innovation across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace. We are seeking a Engineer Tool 2 to support the design and development of advanced manufacturing tooling in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-expectation settings, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design industrial tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments for production and experimental use
  • Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing aerospace programs
  • Create and review engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans
  • Collaborate with Tool Designers to finalize detailed designs
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function
  • Manage tooling projects including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication
  • Partner with manufacturing, operations, and engineering teams to meet quality, cost, and delivery goals
  • Interface with vendors to support fabrication and ensure compliance with design specifications
  • Inspect tooling for drawing accuracy and quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
  • Safety, Compliance & Quality
  • Design safe and efficient tooling and manufacturing processes
  • Identify and mitigate risks in accordance with safety standards
  • Support root cause analysis, non-conformance investigations, and process improvements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline
  • 4 - 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with CAD tools such as NX or CATIA
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and machine shop practices
  • Experience with engineering drawing standards, including:
  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Weld symbols
  • Drawing release and documentation requirements
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Background in tooling design, fabrication, and support equipment
  • Experience working with vendors and evaluating supplier capabilities
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Experience with stress analysis or Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Project management experience (cost estimation, SOW development)
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (within last 5 years)
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license (a plus)
