Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Staff Configuration Management Engineer to support the development of next-generation autonomous aircraft systems. This role will be responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously improving configuration management processes across software development teams working in a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own Configuration Management (CM) plans, processes, and standards.
  • Manage configuration identification, baseline management, and change control activities.
  • Create, maintain, and control development, integration, and release baselines for software configuration items.
  • Standardize Git/GitLab workflows including branching strategies, merge request approvals, tagging, and release management.
  • Ensure reproducible builds and controlled software toolchains.
  • Govern release configuration items across multiple engineering teams.
  • Support and facilitate change control processes, including PRs, CRs, and CCB activities.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, source code, and test artifacts.
  • Track and report configuration item status, approvals, version history, and implementation progress.
  • Prepare configuration records and audit evidence for compliance reviews.
  • Develop automation, documentation, and training materials to support engineering teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for configuration management processes and tools.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another STEM-related discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional experience with at least 5 years focused on Configuration Management.
  • Experience working in safety-critical or regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of DO-178C or similar industry standards.
  • Extensive experience with Git-based version control systems, preferably GitLab.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Configuration Identification
    • Baseline Management
    • Change Control
    • Configuration Status Accounting
    • Traceability Management
  • Experience defining and governing processes across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build reproducibility.
  • Experience supporting safety-critical software development environments.
  • Familiarity with requirements and lifecycle management tools.
  • Experience working across multiple systems within a complex product environment.
  • Aerospace, aviation, defense, autonomous systems, or other regulated industry experience is highly preferred.
