    Job Summary:

    The Regional Logistics Manager [RLM] position is responsible for the safe, efficient coordination and dispatch of crew transportation services within assigned territory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards while meeting/exceeding customer expectations. This highly independent role functions as an autonomous subject matter expert who directs and manages the movement of transportation resources for railroad crews, leveraging analytical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking to optimize operations.

    Responsibilities:

    Transportation Dispatch & Coordination:

    Direct and coordinate the safe, efficient movement of crew transportation within assigned territory, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of railroad personnel to support operational schedules.

    Monitor vehicle locations and trip status using communication systems, GPS tracking, and transportation management platforms, adjusting trips and routes as necessary to prevent delays and ensure efficiency.

    Issue clear instructions via phone, and electronic communication methods, ensuring all parties have accurate, timely information.

    Make rapid, calculated decisions regarding trip assignments and resource deployment, prioritizing multiple simultaneous demands while maintaining operational efficiency and service quality.

    Coordinate transportation services according to operating plans, customer needs, and railroad schedules, balancing competing priorities with precision and efficiency.

    Track vehicle and crew movements on multiple systems simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional multitasking and attention to detail.


    Territory Management & Planning:

    Maintain comprehensive knowledge of assigned territories including weather status and events affecting transportation routes proactively adjusting plans accordingly.

    Plan for smooth and effective movement of trips, time-sensitive crew movements, and special transportation requirements to avoid unnecessary delays.

    Develop plans for resource allocation, resource optimization, and schedule coordination that maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

    Communicate with drivers and operational personnel regarding weather conditions, environmental factors, or any conditions affecting safe transportation and crew movement.


    Safety, Compliance & Documentation:

    Ensure compliance with all company rules, procedures, safety regulations, and applicable transportation requirements.

    Maintain computerized records of all dispatch activities, trip assignments, vehicle movements, and operational incidents with accuracy and thoroughness.

    Document and report any irregularities, safety concerns, alleged violations of operating procedures, or incidents affecting crew transportation operations.

    Monitor and track performance metrics such as on-time performance and service quality indicators, to support accountability and continuous improvement.

    Maintain composure and exercise sound judgment during critical incidents, service interruptions, or critical weather events, providing clear direction while ensuring safety protocols are followed.


    Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement:

    Identify and solve operational issues in real time by evaluating resources, thinking critically, and implementing solutions that achieve desired results and meet customer expectations.

    Champion ongoing improvement principles by proactively identifying process enhancement opportunities and escalating potential solutions to drive operational efficiency and quality.

    Maintain high standards of structure, organization, and efficiency in all work, demonstrating individual responsibility and accountability for operational results.


    Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination:

    Foster culture of cooperation and communication by maintaining open, effective communication with drivers, crew members, customers, and internal operational teams.

    Collaborate with field operations, customers, and management to ensure coordinated execution and shared understanding of priorities.

    Hold one's self accountable to performance standards and business objectives, reporting results and progress to leadership with transparency, accuracy, and precision.

    Exercise independent judgment in decision-making while maintaining appropriate communication channels and escalating strategic issues or critical situations when warranted.

    Address concerns and conflicts directly and professionally, demonstrating comfort with conflict resolution and ability to provide feedback and decisions confidently.

    Requirements

    Our ideal candidate would have:

    Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.


    Experience:

    Experience in Logistics, Transportation, Dispatch Operations, or industry related field with demonstrated progressive responsibility and autonomous execution.

    Experience with dispatch coordination, crew transportation, railroad operations, or related logistics planning preferred.

    Experience with specialized computer dispatching equipment, transportation management systems, or GPS tracking platforms preferred.

    Experience with Lean principles, systems, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.


    Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Competencies:

    Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications-both general and technical)

    Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)

    Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)

    Ability to communicate clearly by telephone

    Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple tasks

    Basic math

    Valid Driver's License required
