Transportation Office Professional: Architect of Mobilization
Location: FFSD Transportation Center
Status: 12-Month Operation Level 3 Office Professional Non-Exempt (FLSA)
The Opportunity: The Wheels of Student Success
In Ferguson-Florissant, a student's school day begins and ends with us. We are looking for a highly organized, professional, and calm-under-pressure Transportation Office Professional to lead the administrative operations of our busing and fleet services. You aren't just an "assistant"-you are the logistical coordinator for our drivers, the primary voice for families navigating bus routes, and the organizational engine that keeps our fleet moving safely and on time.
As part of the FFSD "New Chapter," you will ensure that every student has a safe, reliable, and welcoming path to their classroom. If you are a problem-solver who can navigate complex logistics while maintaining a high level of customer service, your next chapter starts here.
Role Summary
As the Transportation Office Professional (Level 3), you will coordinate the daily administrative, clerical, and dispatch-support operations of the Transportation department. Working in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment, you will manage routing software data, coordinate driver assignments, process payroll for transportation staff, and handle high-volume communications with school buildings and parents. You will serve as a vital link between our fleet and our community, ensuring that all transportation needs are met with efficiency and care.
Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications)
  • Proven Mastery: 3-5 years of successful experience as a Secretary or Administrative Assistant is required. Experience in logistics, dispatch, or a high-volume transportation/fleet environment is highly preferred.
  • The "Logistics" Expert: You possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to maintain composure during high-traffic times (early mornings and afternoons).
  • Tech Savvy: You are proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, with the ability to master specialized Transportation Routing Software (e.g., Versatrans, Transfinder) and GPS tracking systems.
  • Financial Stewardship: You have experience processing payroll, managing purchase orders for parts/fuel, and tracking departmental expenses.
  • Relational Expert: You are a professional communicator who can provide clear, empathetic information to parents and work effectively with a large team of drivers and mechanics.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
  • Operational Coordination: Support the daily dispatch and routing operations, ensuring all routes are covered and schedule changes are communicated in real-time.
  • Family & School Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for parent inquiries and school building requests, resolving transportation concerns with a focus on student safety and service.
  • Data & Records Management: Maintain accurate records for driver certifications, bus inspections, and student rosters, ensuring full compliance with state and federal transportation regulations.
  • Departmental Support: Manage the Director of Transportation's calendar, prepare safety reports, and coordinate departmental meetings and driver training sessions.
  • Financial Operations: Process weekly payroll for drivers and monitors, manage vendor invoices for fleet maintenance, and assist in monitoring the departmental budget.
Your Leadership Partners
  • Primary Support: Director of Transportation
The Logistics of Your Success
  • Classification: Level 3 Office Professional Non-Exempt (FLSA)
  • Work Year: 12-Month Calendar (Includes paid holidays and vacation accrual).
  • Salary: Based on the Office Professional Salary Schedule, with placement determined by verified professional experience.
  • Benefits: Full-time Eligibility (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, & PSRS/PEERS Retirement).
The FFSD Advantage: Total Rewards & Support
We don't just hire staff; we invest in the people who move our mission.
  • Work-Life Balance: In addition to standard holidays, 12-month employees accrue paid vacation time to ensure you can stay recharged.
  • Health & Heart: 100% district-paid medical, dental, and vision plans, plus access to our Ferg-Flor Care district health clinic for your wellness.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunities for specialized training in logistics software, safety compliance, and professional communication.
  • Impactful Work: Join a team that takes pride in being the first and last friendly faces our students see every single day.
