Job description


GROUNDS SUPERVISOR
Reports to: Operations Manager
Overview: The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for consistently delivering the highest quality grounds services in the industry, while remaining focused on productivity and profitability. Grounds Supervisors are crew leaders for commercial grounds care crews providing a wide array of grounds maintenance services.
Minimum Qualifications for all Field Employees:
  1. Ability to pass Federal eligibility requirements.
  2. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  3. Have transportation to and from the field office.
  4. Ability to walk and remain on foot for most of the workday.
  5. Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for all Supervisors:
  1. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Michigan driver's license.
  2. Michigan Chauffeur's license and DOT driver certification
  3. Insurance company approval of driving record.

Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Effectively communicating with management, peers, assistants, clients, and vendors.
  2. Properly completing all required paperwork.
  3. Maintaining truck, trailer, and equipment to company standards.
  4. Meeting company standards regarding presentation of self.
  5. Following and promoting company safety rules.
  6. Meeting company standards for job sites.
  7. Effectively managing the work crew.
  8. Ensuring that work is performed in the most productive manner.
  9. Application of pesticides to properties to minimize hand weeding & weed whipping.
  10. Minimizing expenses/costs of operations.
  11. Continually developing skills and knowledge.

Level I Qualifications: range $20-$21/hr
  • Combination of education and work experience indicating a minimum capacity to supervise a work crew
  • Ability to manage a small and/or basic grounds care work crew (2-3 persons)
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate basic landscape maintenance and snow equipment
  • Must be able to use Exaktime to punch in and out and track your crews times for the day.

Level II Qualifications: range $21-$22/hr
  • Level I Qualifications
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage a large and/or full service grounds care and snow crew (4-5 persons)
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate all landscape maintenance and snow equipment (ie: skids, loaders etc.)

Level III Qualifications: range $22 -$24/hr
  • Level II Qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple work crews
  • Other specific skills relating to field operations (i.e. small engine repairs)
  • Combination of education and work experience indicating a capacity to advance to a management position
  • Possession of Pesticide Applicator's license. (Core, 3A, 3B, & 6)

At any level, becoming a Certified Pesticide Applicator will result in a $1.00/hour pay increase.
